With all the latest trends it’s hard to have your own identity. I have four girls and two of them have straight hair, the other two have wavy/curly hair. One of them has green eyes, the other three have copper brown eyes. Each one of them has a unique beauty, and even though they may not agree on certain styles, they all love having long hair. I enjoy watching the girls braid and style each others hair. They have fun playing with different looks and styles.
I remember growing up with long, thick hair. No matter what I did, I didn’t like my hair. It took me a very long time to style and I went through lots of hairspray. Then I started coloring it. I went through so many phases it took a toll on my hair. My hair started to fall out from all the damage I was doing. I gave my hair a much needed break and went au naturel. Like my grandmother use to say, “Your natural beauty is YOUR unique beauty.” My hair started looking healthy again and I received so many compliments. I finally started to love my hair.

My three older girls are strong, confident, and amazing young women. I want the same for Faith, and I can see she is already following in their footsteps. It’s important to me that each one of them embraces their uniqueness and love who they are from head to toe. Your hair is a source of confidence, not anxiety for both women and girls.

As a mom, I feel it’s my responsibility to set the example, and provide them with positive motivation. When styling their hair I encourage their input and participation. I compliment Faith on her wavy hair and how beautiful it looks styled or not. I appreciate Dove™ #LoveYourHair is joining in sharing this message.
